VSS XC Race 2 - Beaconsfield Upper - review

21 Dec 08 Round 2 VSS 2008/2009, Dallas Brooks Park Scout Camp Site, Beaconsfield Upper.

Club – Dirt Riders - http://www.dirtridersmtb.com/

128 riders started for the last Victorian State Series XC race for 2008.

A beautiful sunny day, which really warmed up around midday, claiming a few DNFs.

Dirt Riders had mapped out an excellent course, just about touching every boundary of the property. Great flowing single track, with more than enough opportunities for passing. A forgiving terrain, that should one wander off course a little, a little grass, and you’re back on course.

A few small rock gardens, and other obstacles around the track, at first approach looked a little daunting, but once mastered, at the right speed and gear offered a nice following race track.

Race results published on the night, excellent work.

Thanks for Stephen Rowe for another great set of photos can be found at http://mtb-images.ser.id.au/

Post race free BBQ and drinks were a nice touch to a great day.

Not sure where Andrew Hall comes from in the Masters Men, he came out again to show his form and again dominate, adding another 1st to this season achievements.

Hats off to Sport Women, Megan Lawson, who pressed on, dispite the heat and +1 hour lap times to claim 3rd place. Go Megan.

Elite Men, whats going on? 12 starters and only 7 finished. Mind, a sub 23 minute lap, was worth seeing.

Just as a general comment on photos I have - a new dedicated web site has been registered - http//www.mtb-images.com.au

Roughly 3-4 weeks after an event, all images are moved to a secondary server so any direct links to sites (such as the one above) usually won;t work.

Keep the mtb-images.com.au link on hand and you will be able to find all events we have covered.
