What a great weekend for cycling in Bendigo, and specifically for MTB.

Kicked off the weekend with the Saturday, Cyclismo, Parks Victoria, MTB Challenge, crit in the center of Bendigo. Despite a few light showers, it did not dampen the enthusiasm of the competitors.

Race up and down the cobblestones is hard work, don't know how the roadies to it! Great course. I know the spectators enjoyed watching the races. It was quite novel to ride(race) under the fountain.

Then on Sunday, a little wind, but a nice sunny day to start the first round of the Victorian State Series XC MTB races. It is always one tough course, there is no let up, no place to rest. A lot of work since last season has added more berms and switch backs. Takes a skilled rider to get a nice flow going, but you only have to watch a few of the Elite riders to see how it can be done.

There was no paddock section this year, but it provided plenty of off the street parking, and kept the racers separate from the vehicular traffic. Great to have plenty of portable loos.

Well, Bendigo has set a good benchmark for this season.
