VSS XC Race 6 - review

27-Apr-2008 Round 6 VSS 2007/2008, Dallas Brooks Scout Camp, Beaconsfield Upper

Club - Dirt Riders MTB

~92 Riders

Dirt Riders turned on an excellent day, despite the forecast of showers, hail and 15.

Before the day, had directions to the event and downloadable Event Registration From, which made the morning a breeze.

Roll call and staging starts of each category appeared to go off without issue.

Today was a run around Dirt Riders traditional track in reverse direction, which proved to be a good surface, even though needed to keep a lookout for slippery roots. Most of the trails were relatively smooth, some of the sort climbs with a few exposed roots required a good climbing technique.

Both the results from this round and the series overall results posed on the club's website.

Was good to have Rob Eva make an appearance today, to give the Masters Men more than enough to the think about.

Murray Spink was able to confirm his supremacy of the Elite Men, Adrian Jackson matching him until the end of Lap 5.

Peter Pink did not get it all his way to day in the Super Masters Men, with 7 other competitors and Nick Bird finishing ahead.

Matthew Keays cleaned up the U17 Men, with another win, and a total of 530 points of the season.

Stephen Rowe was onsite, capturing some excellent photography of the day. Check out his site and order some photos, an excellent service

Big thanks to the Dallas Brooks Scout Camp for the use of their facilities. Was great to have some real toilets and some shelter.

Being slightly closer to civilization, was good to have onsite food vans, which provided a good service at reasonable prices.

Full marks to Dirt Riders for providing good weather, good track and great finish for the 07/08 Summer season.

As it turned out there were bonus points for the day, double points.

AB - thanks for the plug(s) :)

If anyone is interested, I can put together a CD of all images for a rider from all of the VSS rounds except Round 2 (wasn't allowed to drive that weekend and, unfortunately, missed it). Images can be used for publicity, promotion, personal use or simply printing. Only restriction is to give credit for source of image.

(And, if any of the clubs want copies for publicity for future events...)

Contact me either via PM or through my Images site (http://mtb-images.ser.id.au) for full details.

Stephen.
